The WHAS Crusade for Children has awarded an $18 thousand grant to the Grayson County Schools special education program. The funding will enhance social-emotional development and skills, specifically for students on the autism spectrum. Applications can also be designed for students in other special needs areas.
The Crusade has been a strong supporter of the district’s work with students with disabilities, awarding over $1 million in grant funding to Grayson County through the years. These funds have provided a variety of additional equipment and opportunities beyond regular programs. Last year, $10,000 was awarded for elementary playground communication boards.
“We are grateful to the Crusade for Children for granting this funding for our students,” said Special Education Director Tracie Johnston. “Our thanks also go to the many fire departments and volunteers whose tireless efforts raise these funds each year for our kids and our community.”
