The Community Health Committee is on a mission to promote wellness and lifelong fitness with Grayson County's youngest residents. During a ten-day tour over the past several weeks, members and volunteers have made their way to every elementary school in the county, lighting the spark for healthy living with students districtwide.
With fitness pal and mascot Fitt Fiddle leading the way, the Committee introduced students to fun ways to stay active, including reaching for 10,000 steps each day as a foundation of a healthy lifestyle. Each student received their very own wearable step tracker from the Committee, to track their progress and stay motivated.
A team of over 40 dedicated community and student volunteers with a passion for wellness guided students through the Fitt Fiddle line dance, led interactive fitness games and shared the invaluable message of incorporating movement in some form every day, for both physical and mental health.
At each school, students signed a banner with a “pledge to be healthy through exercise and physical activity.” The banners were left as a reminder to keep up the good habits they’d learned about that day.
Partnerships make great things happen! And healthy lifestyles are the cornerstone of a strong community. Working together, the Committee’s partnership highlighted the power of building healthy habits at an early age to provide endless possibilities for positive change - for a lifetime.
Check out some of the fun activities and local "celebrities" who joined the fun in this Fitness Video that was shared at each school.
