GCHS CTE was center stage during this week’s KY Association of Career and Technical Educators (KACTE) summer conference as Brittany Gary and Cody Mooneyhan shared their expertise and experiences with attendees.
Marketing teacher and DECA advisor Gary shared a session on “Helping Your Student Competitors Crush Their Written Events,” for new advisors or advisors looking for tips in that event category.
“We had really great feedback from those at the session,” she said, adding that “it was a great way to mentor some new teachers and advisors.”
Family and Consumer Science teacher and FCCLA advisor Mooneyhan hosted two workshops. During an interactive resource gift exchange, participants shared and “unwrapped” resources for teaching Middle to Late Life Span Development including AI and elderly simulations.
In addition, she teamed up with GCHS Youth Service Center Director Barbara Allen and Natalie Taul of the UK Extension Service to share the group’s Laugh and Learn Play Dates project that plans and promotes early learning opportunities to local families. Each guest left with a book to prepare their own Laugh and Learn Play Date
Mooneyhan also serves KACTE in a leadership role as a member of the Board.
