Students gathered around and looking at silhouette on floor of a culinary "crime scene"

In a fun twist on learning a serious subject, GCHS students in Ms. Mooneyhan’s and Ms. Westerfield’s classes teamed up to investigate "crime scenes" of kitchen mishaps and hazards.

The groups were tasked with identifying all the clues and possible scenarios leading up to each scene, collecting the evidence found at each of the five stations representing hazard categories of cross-contamination, falls, burns or fires, electrical shock, cuts and knife safety. A few surprise elements were added along the way, further testing their knowledge and ability to think on their feet. In the final debrief, they aced it!
